Printmaking
I have always been drawn to the medium of Printmaking. First introduced to the techniques of Etching and Lithography at Goldsmiths College, School of Art, I discovered a new expansive language in line, tonal washes, and both delicate and intense mark-making. From my studio, situated on the old Surrey Docks prior to development, I took Lithographic plates out to draw directly from the abandoned landscape, making my first Cityscapes. Rusting remnants and bleak industrial structures with their sense of history became my subjects. After graduating, I joined The London College of Printing, allowing me to further my knowledge and, armed with plates, I began to explore the nearby areas of Borough and Southwark for inspiration. Once I had mastered this craft, I joined Artichoke Print Workshop in Brixton, whose superb facilities facilitated my continued experimentation with a range of techniques from Stone Lithography to Carborundum prints. Here, This enabled me to make editions working and exhibiting with fellow, professional printmakers. Examples of this work have been published in ‘Practical Printmaking’ a handbook by Colin Gale and have also been selected for National Printmaking exhibitions Here are just some of the broad range of my hand made prints,
